Which Jack is the Left Bower?
The Left Bower is the Jack of the other suit of the same color as trump. Hearts trump: Jack of Diamonds. Diamonds trump: Jack of Hearts. Clubs trump: Jack of Spades. Spades trump: Jack of Clubs.
Is the Left Bower part of its own suit?
No. For the whole hand the Left Bower counts only as a trump card. If diamonds are led while hearts are trump, the Jack of Diamonds cannot be used to follow suit.
What beats the Right Bower in euchre?
Nothing, in standard euchre. The Right Bower (Jack of trump) is the highest card. Only in variants that add a Joker, such as British Euchre, does the Joker (the Benny) rank higher.
